The Big PictureAt American Prairie Foundation (APF), we strongly believe in making a positive impact in the communities surrounding American Prairie Reserve (APR). In doing this we hope to encourage mutual economic strength (see Economic Opportunity) and strong community relationships. We also believe that community involvement is a process of engaging in dialogue and collaboration with local residents. We can assist in this process through partnerships and support of volunteer resources. It is our goal to be a valuable, long-term community partner and good neighbor. Progress to DateAs part of this goal, we have established the APF Community Involvement Fund, which supports the local community with financial assistance to local non-profit organizations with projects in: 1) educational initiatives 2) conservation and 3) historical and cultural preservation. With input from local residents, a committee decides the recipients of grants of up to $1000. Another part of the goal of APF’s Community Involvement Program is to create opportunities to invite people in the local area to learn about what we are doing. We hold events each year such as open houses and dinners to get to know our neighbors and share our project with the community. Next StepsAPF will continue to be actively involved in the local community to help support a strong, viable, and sustainable quality of life for all residents. We believe it is important to practice good citizenship. We are dedicated to furthering our outreach efforts, which are varied and tailored to best meet the needs of local residents. Through our long-term regional initiatives and the Community Involvement Program, we will continue our longstanding dedication to make a positive impact on the communities we touch. A brochure summarizing American Prairie Foundation’s contributions to the local community is available for download. |
